The Maricopa Community Colleges comprise ten colleges, two skill centers and numerous education centers dedicated to educational excellence, meeting the needs of businesses and the citizens of Maricopa County. Each college is individually accredited, yet part of a larger system ¿ the Maricopa County Community College District. The District is one of the largest higher education systems in the world and the largest provider of health care workers and job training in Arizona ¿ a major resource for business and industry and for individuals seeking education and job training. Degrees, Courses & Transfer OpportunitiesWhether just out of high school, beginning or re-entering college or seeking lifelong education, the Maricopa Community Colleges offer a wide range of opportunities. Seven Associate Degrees, 933 Certificates of Completion and 9,930 courses are available. Flexible course delivery includes online, televised, traditional classroom, hybrid, mail, accelerated, evening, weekend and open-entry/open-exit choices. Transfer agreements with public and private colleges and universities enable seamless transitions to four-year institutions. Tuition & FeesMaricopa County residents pay $60 per credit hour. A full-time student will pay $1,800 annually in tuition and fees. Workforce DevelopmentThe Center for Workforce Development brings industry and education together to discuss and plan curriculum and faculty training, partner employers to the college that best meets their training needs and serves as a central resource for the most current labor market information and national data on economic and workforce trends. Business and industry partnerships, on-site training and campus-based training are designed to improve the skills and efficiency of employees, saving employers millions of dollars in improved efficiency and creating a stable workforce. The Maricopa Community Colleges are committed to ensuring that the Greater Phoenix economy has a skilled labor pool to meet the existing and emerging needs of business and industry. LeadershipThe Maricopa Community Colleges are led by a publicly elected governing board, a chancellor, five vice chancellors and ten college presidents. Student ProfilesMore than a quarter million students attend the Maricopa Community Colleges each year. Enrollment is expected to reach 400,000 by 2012. Current student demographics include:
ScholarshipsThe Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation raises scholarship funds from corporations, foundations and individuals. A current $30 million effort is underway to fund and support ACE, a high school drop-out prevention program, at each of the ten campuses. Alumni associations are active or in development at most of the colleges. EmployeesThe Maricopa Community Colleges employ close to 1,300 full-time faculty, augmented by approximately 4,000 adjunct faculty who are specialists in their fields.
